Harlow Industrial Unit Fire

A large fire had broken out at a two-storey industrial unit in Perry Road, Harlow on 11th November. One school and a two-mile safety cordon has been set up around the scene of the blaze.
The fire, which began at around 00:30, was completely alight when fire crews arrived. The Essex County Fire and Rescue Service advised people living or working nearby to keep their doors and windows closed and to avoid the area due to the volume of smoke.
A nearby school Stewards Academy secondary school had to be closed for the day amongst many other local businesses as a result of the rising smoke levels. A safety cordon was put in place but shortly lifted at lunchtime.
As of recent, there is no statement about the cause of the fire. The East of England Ambulance Service said that there are no reported injuries but their Hazardous area response team was sent to assist the fire service. The last update was made at 2:30am on 12th November, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service commented: “Firefighters are continuing to work hard to control the fire. Good progress is being made.”
