On Thursday 4th March, Havering Council opened a new testing site in Rainham. They are offering lateral flow tests for people who do not have symptoms.

The new site is the first in the area to be ran entirely by Havering Council staff and is based within a retail unit directly across Rainham station; which is a change from other sites nearby which are located in libraries.

As lockdown restrictions are easing, the site will continue to provide testing services.

Those who cannot work from home are advised to take two rapid tests per week to help stop the spread.

Approximately one in three people who test positive for Covid-19 do not exhibit symptoms and can unknowingly spread the virus.

Leader of Havering Council Damian White said: “With a new site right on their [Rainham’s] doorstep, I’m urging all local business owners and employers to work with their staff and allow them time to get regular, twice-weekly tests to keep the virus at bay.”

Havering Council continues to identify possible new areas around the borough to set up testing sites so that all Havering residents can have easy access to rapid testing.
